A group of us visiting Fremantle WA for the AARES Conference on agricultural and resource economics were searching for a good restaurant for the last night of the Conference. There were many to choose from and where we had a limited knowledge basis for choice. The solution was to rely on the preferences of Edward at Wine Sapien. Edward is WA-based and – as his wine selections indicate – he has a selective and refined palate. He likes the Great Mellie a contemporary French restaurant at 37 High Street, Fremantle and so did we. It is BYO so, equipping ourselves with some good chardonnay and pinot, we set off on a 6-course adventure of cuttlefish, mushroom soup, red snapper, lamb, quail along with a fine array of deserts.
A top, small, modern French restaurant – good service and great food. And the find a tribute to the gastronomic virtue of participating in the blogosphere.
Great Mellie, Harry. Yes, it was indeed wonderful. Thanks to Wino Sapien.
Thanks CW. Name corrected. I’ll go there again Sunday night.
