I am tired of hearing the complaints from over-indulged Aussi brats at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi. They complained about the housing, the temperature at the opening ceremony and now the food – 5 of the brats got upset stomachs. I resent spending a cent of public money on these graceless buffoons. They are a national embarrassment.
Update: An Australian cyclist and a wrestler make obscene gestures to judges after doing poorly in events. Let us reconsider the expenditure of public money on these athletes. They are not national heroes but miserable rubbish who provide us with a sense of embarrassment not pride. (1094)

Yep, I agree.
A lot of them, let us not forget, have it had laid on with a trowel at the AIS. This enables them to earn big money in their sport. Unlike university students, however, they get it all for free.
The national embarrassment is the way we fawn over them.
These sporty drips have had a cushioned ride all their lives – school, home, AIS, work time off for practice, workcover claims for sport injuries, every bruise inspected on Medicare, be thankful they don’t get university scholarships here like they do in USA and you’d have them in your class and have to pass the boofheads.
Hmm, your first link seems to be NZ officials not Aust. athletes complaining. At least your second is an Aussie complaining – but an official not a current athlete. You can call Monners a graceless buffoon but don’t expect many people to agree – and he is not exactly soft either.
And assuming you thing the games newsworthy, swimmers – not just Aussies incidentally – becoming too sick to compete does seem newsworthy.

I think these morons are utterly uninteresting people and I couldn’t care less if they never competed in anything again. The boofheads don’t deserve public support or any public adulation at all. Spoilt, unpleasant brats. Who wants them?

Harry, your disinterest in athletes and their sports clear but you logic is much less clear – athletes have to eat at the village – how can any problems with food served at the village be their responsibility??
