The lack of any Republican support and the defection of Democrat Senators from coal-producing states means the US is unlikely to pass a comprehensive energy bill this summer. Our own climate nitwits in the ALP (Bernard Keane at Crikey has an excellent summary) want to make Australian climate policy contingent on gaining a community consensus from ordinary Australians on climate change. We voted for political leaders - we elect unprincipled nothings.
They really are an embarrassment to themselves — I thought Rudd had silly ideas, but this citizens councils seems to beat them all.

So when the Greens promise to have 100% renewables by 2050, it’s just as motherhood as saying no child in poverty. I guess you could say they’re nothing but all principle.
